Drkrm. gallery presents its first show for 2008, featuring Paul Zone’s in your face photographs capturing the New York City pre-punk music scene; Ryan Herz’s expose of Hollywood’s Ivar Theatre in the 1970’s; Hrad Kuzyk’s junk camera photographs documenting the everyday life of a soldier in Iraq; Mark Thomson’s sexy portrait of Robert Mapplethorpe; Nicola Goode’s photographic essay of young transsexuals on the streets of Los Angeles and the West Coast premiere of the stunning color Cinemascapes of Aaron Hobson.

These and many other works by emerging and established artists are on display as a showcase and a preview of the upcoming year at drkrm gallery.

Happy (belated) Holidays to everyone. I haven’t updated much this month because I’ve been working six days a week since the beginning of the month. Also, I haven’t shot anything this month, aside from the regular holiday pictures.

However, there are shows in January that I posted already last month, and I’m going to post some more in a few here ~ if i can find any.

Thinkspace presents: "Fight For Flight" A special benefit for the API in honor of National Bird Day

National Bird Day will take place on Sat, Jan. 5th, 2008 and we’ll be hosting a special exhibition entitled "Fight For Flight" that will have an opening reception on Fri, January 4th. The opening will be sponsored by Dewars and Grolsch and will take place from 7-11PM on Fri, Jan. 4th. There will be a special installation from P. Williams in our front room and an exhibition in our main gallery featuring over 50 artists from all across the U.S. and as far off as Japan, Germany, Australia, Canada and Scotland.

On Sat, Jan. 5th we’ll be open from noon till 6PM for further viewing of the show. We will be hosting a special coloring contest for kids taking place in our project room that afternoon to further encourage families to come through together and experience this amazing gathering of talent and hopefully walk away with some knowledge gained on our feathered friends and all things cute and furry that the API help to protect and defend.

Show will benefit the API (www.api4animals.org) and help to spread the word on National Bird Day - Sat, Jan. 5th, 2008 www.nationalbirdday.org

20% of all sales will go to the API and we will also have an API booth on hand in our back project room accepting further donations from our patrons during National Bird Day weekend.

There will be a Sunday Country Brunch hosted by our own DJ Hillbilly Jeff, with live music all day long. Anyone is welcome to attend this NO ADMISSION-ALL AGES brunch. Doors are at 12PM. Brunch Americana is served up until 3PM ( The Mimosa’s & Bloody Mary’s are amazing!- Food is great too!)
